I sat down to write this morning and was distracted by grannies of TikTok. I just met Gramma Bobbe, https://www.tiktok.com/@gbandme. Such fun connection between generations.
I then went to check in on Lorraine Peel, https://www.tiktok.com/@grooveynannygranny. She always makes me laugh.
Now I’m ready to write, well wait a minute I need to refill my coffee.
Today I’m looking forward to a little road trip with my granddaughter and great-granddaughter. What a privilege that is!
In my quiet time this morning, I wondered and then asked what my great grandmothers would want me to tell my great granddaughter for them. They were long dead before I was even born. I have a deck of Ancestor Oracle cards, so I decided to draw a card for each of my 4 great grandmothers to see what they wanted to say.
Alice Mousley Hawkins, Born July 14, 1872, in Orford NH. She died at the age of 64 just 2 months after a devastating fire that destroyed their home. The card I picked for her was the Protection Guardian. Her message is to drop your shield, shine like you were born to.
Ella Goodwin Bateman, born December 13, 1850, in St Louis, MO. She died at the age of 57 in New Orleans, LA. Her card is the Heart Guardian. The message is love and let yourself be loved. Ella will protect your heart.
Carrie Gage MacDougall. The vibe changed when picking her card. I had been randomly shuffling, fanning out cards and randomly picking but when it came to her turn, I was much more methodical. I felt like I had to do it the right way. My posture stiffened, I sat up straight. I felt I had to play by the rules. Carrie was born Feb 26, 1861, in Bedford, NH. She died at the age of 31 from tuberculosis only a year after her only child, Roy, was born. Her card was Air Guardian, Shift your Perception. I got the feeling that she always lived by the book, and it didn’t serve her well. She felt cheated. Change the way you think about things if you don’t like where you are. Life is short.
Caroline Heath Hill, born April 28, 1832 in Raymond, NH. She died at the age of 87. She had 9 children and 6 stepchildren. Her card was the Mirror Guardian, take time to reflect. She wants you to recognize your gifts and see yourself as I do.
I love how they all showed up as guardians. They are truly watching our backs. I have outlived 3 of my 4 great-grandmothers. I feel so blessed to be able to know my great granddaughter and be a part of her life. I feel blessed to be able to share the messages from the great grandmothers.
